Presidium Co-Founder and CEO Named Southwest Regional Entrepreneur of the Year® Finalist

Ernst & Young recognizes John Griggs on prestigious list that celebrates unstoppable entrepreneurs around the world

Presidium Co-CEO and Co-Founder John Griggs has been named a Southwest Regional Entrepreneur of The Year® 2020 finalist by Ernst & Young LLP (EY US). In its 34th year, the Entrepreneur of The Year program has grown to recognize business leaders in more than 145 markets and more than 60 countries throughout the world. Griggs has been recognized due to his unbounded ambitions that have delivered innovation, growth and prosperity in the commercial real estate industry.

“John has more grit, persistence and aspiration than anyone I have met before. His consistent engagement within the community and commercial real estate industry has enabled him to develop critical insights and actionable opportunities that have led our company to success,” said Cross Moceri, Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Presidium. “I am fortunate to have a business partner who shares the same vision of creating a purpose-driven organization that prioritizes our team members and the betterment of our communities.”

Following his Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan School of Law, Griggs launched his legal career. While practicing law at Wilson Sonsini, he saw the potential in Arizona real estate and began investing as a secondary source of income. In 2003, while continuing to practice law, Griggs and Moceri founded Presidium. In a leap of faith, the business partners decided to both leave their legal careers in 2005 and relocate to Texas to further develop Presidium as their core business.

After more than 15 years of hard work and dedication, Griggs has led Presidium from its infancy to a firm that now manages a nation-wide portfolio valued at approximately $2.5 billion.

With almost 300 employees in 29 collaborative environments, his efforts have also resulted in Presidium expanding from Dallas into seven new markets, transforming over 50 communities nationwide, and creating sustainable housing for thousands of Americans.

“The biggest lesson I’ve learned is how important it is to work hard, be honest, and really take a deep dive into the field you’re pursuing. For any leader, your team and partners will look to you as the expert – to anticipate what is coming next, and to craft appropriate strategies for limiting risk while capitalizing on opportunities. Be that expert and know more about your space than anyone else. That’s what your stakeholders want and it’s ultimately what will make you successful,” said Griggs. “Most importantly, I wouldn’t be who or where I am today without the constant support from my family, friends, mentors and colleagues. To them, I owe this recognition — thank you.”

All regional winners of EY’s Entrepreneur of The Year® 2020 will go on to compete in the national program, which will be announced in Summer 2021.
