Shine Bright Like A Diamond
This is a great read for those who want to excel in the agency world. PR Daily lists five ways to stand out by truly mastering the business of people. Our favorite tips include:
- Sometimes you may have the unpleasant experience of realizing you may have stepped in too aggressively or not aggressively enough. Take a step back and correct your course.
- There should be no surprises between you and your client. At least, no surprises coming from your end.
- It’s a natural impulse to immediately want to respond to a situation and try to fix it. But sometimes a client just wants to be listened to while they chat about potential projects. Understanding that not every conversation is a cause-and-effect can be good for building relationships.
The other two tips are just as good!
“My Wife And Girlfriend… I Mean My Wife.”
In our last Weekly Rewind, we mentioned how important it is to practice and mentally prepare clients for live television interviews — this is why. Footballer Mohammed Anas played a fantastic game and was feeling elated during his post-match interview. That is until he thanked his wife and girlfriend in the same sentence and then painfully tried to backtrack. The video was viewed 2.5 million times on Twitter alone so he definitely had some explaining to do. To make matters even more confusing, the athlete is now saying he calls his daughter his girlfriend and that’s who he was referring to. Oye! Our advice is to take a break from interviews so he can try to patch things up at home.
Better To Have Too Much Data Than Not Enough
There are tons of great social media analytics tools out there, and sometimes it’s hard to know where to start (but one that’s free is always a good place to begin). Also, several of the major social media networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) offer their own built-in analytics, and this article will show you how to access all that data!
Like Father, Like Son
Looks like President Trump isn’t the only one who needs his Twitter account monitored. After Wednesday’s terror attack in London that killed three people, Donald Trump Jr. tweeted “You have to be kidding me?!” with a link to a September 2016 story that quoted London’s Mayor saying terror attacks were “part and parcel of living in a big city.” Supposedly the mayor’s interview was taken out of context and it’s unclear if the president’s son realized the quote was six months old. Twitter users have been quick to slam Trump Jr. for exploiting the tragedy. Another Twitter mess to clean up for the pros — maybe they should just change the family’s passwords?
