Get Out of Here, Fake News!

A platform we PR pros use every day has recently rolled out several updates to its trending news section amid the fake news controversy. Previously on Facebook, only the topic and number of people talking about it were mentioned, but now, you can also see the name of the publisher and the original headline. A Facebook spokesperson said the updated system also identifies groups of articles shared on Facebook instead of relying solely on mentions of topics.

How Strong is Uber’s PR Crisis Plan?

PR experts are analyzing Uber’s latest crisis and wondering if the company has finally learned its PR lesson. The most recent scandal involves a sexual harassment and sexism complaint against the company. Uber’s CEO promptly followed several of the basic steps of crisis management, including issuing a statement against sexism, hiring reputable names to investigate the complaint and promising to release statistics about diversity at Uber.

It’s an encouraging sign that Uber has been proactive about addressing the allegations, which will ultimately be its key to survival. PR News says,”The business issue for Uber…is that at its essence it’s an app,” and “consumers would seem to have little difficulty deleting Uber from their mobile phones and downloading another ride-provider’s app to replace it.”

Glassdoor has compiled a list of the 27 toughest interview questions job seekers have faced, and some of them make us SO glad we weren’t the ones sitting on the other side of that desk.
