Reasons I love PR: I can write about backstabbing, stealing and revolutionary airplanes in one blog post and it’s all industry related. Now that I have your attention, check out a brief recap of our favorite stories from this week.

And the Bad Blood Continues..
Kim Kardashian managed to break the internet once again after releasing a series of videos showing Taylor Swift did indeed approve of Kanye West’s demeaning reference to her in his song “Famous.” This caused such a reaction that I wouldn’t be surprised if Kim Kardashian wins the next Pulitzer Prize for investigative journalism. Taylor defended herself, but after all her recent drama, I can’t help but believe she isn’t as sweet and innocent as we thought. Wouldn’t it be nice to see every person she’s written a song about, ex-boyfriends and friends alike, come together and write a song about her, “We Are The World” style?

Major Key
As public relations professionals, the importance of key messages is one of the first lessons drilled into us. Refusing to stray from your messaging can create an illusion of control over your story. This can also put you at risk of hurting your brand’s authenticity and insulting the reporter. Check out these tips on finding a happy balance on controlling your brand’s messaging.

High Class Business Class
United Airlines is changing the aviation game by making some major renovations to its business class. The new concept, Polaris, will include 16-inch HD screens at every seat, lobster on the menu and beds dressed with Saks Fifth Avenue sheets. However, because planes that offer this type of structure don’t exist yet, United had to showcase the concept using virtual reality. Who says we don’t live in the future?

#FamousMelaniaTrumpQuotes
The following is what I like to call the “Bring It On” scandal of 2016. I’m going to assume everyone who reads this blog has seen the movie based on the fact that I know my mom is the only reader that made it this far. Anyhow, presidential candidate Donald Trump’s wife Melania allegedly plagiarized Michelle Obama’s speech from 2008, word-for-word in some parts. It was embarrassing and a little cringeworthy, but to be honest, I’m not sure why this surprises people. However, social media had a field day! Melania claims the similarities were just a coincidence and she wrote the speech herself with very little help. We’re now waiting for her to do a special with Diane Sawyer where she speaks out about the struggles of being a black woman and how she wants better for her daughters Sasha and Malia.
