Not only is it Friday, it’s also National Donut Day! Thanks to the relentless storms in Dallas, there’s a very slim chance I’ll be in a swimsuit anytime soon. While I go celebrate this holiday as hard as I can, feel free to check out some of our favorite stories from the week:

Dos Equis’ New Campaign
The Dos Equis “Most Interesting Man in the World” campaign seems to be the gift that keeps on giving.  After original star Jonathan Goldsmith retired to Mars, Dos Equis continues the saga by introducing less interesting substitutes like Erin Andrews and Luis Guzman. The 15-second ads direct viewers to DosEquis.com, which in turn points to the Dos Equis Interesting Index“, an algorithm built for Facebook that lets fans measure how interesting they personally are based on their social posts.

Insta-Business
To add to all of its recent changes, Instagram will soon be offering profile upgrades for many small businesses. In summary, these upgrades will provide businesses with analytics and special insight on their followers. Businesses will also have the choice of upgrading their profiles to enable followers to contact the company via email, phone call or text with just a tap. However, you must have a Facebook profile for your business in order to upgrade your account. This means that self-promoters on Instagram who use the service to gain notoriety and followers — but lack a commercial interest —won’t be allowed to use some of Instagram’s new tools (sorry, Insta models).

Digitize All the Things
I may just be speaking for myself here, but “trends” change so quickly that I hardly ever know what’s actually trending anymore. Although it’s obvious that our addiction to technology has completely evolved digital advertising, the changes it continues to make are quite impressive. Check out these 7 trends that are shaping the future of advertising (for now).

PR is No Monkey Business
We have all heard the unfortunate story of Harambe the gorilla who was shot earlier this week after a child fell into its enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo. From messaging to media coverage, there are so many PR lessons to be learned from this incident. Personally, I’d like to take this time to give a shoutout to my Facebook friends who are all sudden experts on parenting, gorillas and zoo procedures. How would I ever learn anything without you guys?
