All is fair in love and politics. In her latest ad, Hillary Clinton bashes her opponent Donald Trump without actually ever saying a word herself.  After Ted Cruz and John Kasich dropped out of the race this week, her team released an ad filled with anti-Trump comments made by different members of the GOP party. Who says politicians don’t bring people together?

Virgin Wins at Customer Service

An unexpected act of kindness can be a reward in itself but if you’re lucky, it can turn into a very beneficial marketing move, just ask Virgin Airlines. After a series of unfortunate misunderstandings that caused a couple to miss their trip to Vegas went viral on the internet, Virgin Airlines decided to make sure the couple got to Vegas. The solution to the problem also went viral and Virgin Airlines has received a surprising amount of positive traction for it. I guess it literally pays to be nice.

A 10-year old Finnish boy named Jani found a bug on Instagram that allowed him to hack other user’s comments, and was rewarded $10,000 for doing so. Jani plans on using the money to buy a new bike, football and computers for his brothers. If that isn’t sweet enough, check out this letter he wrote to the “good adults of the internet” addressing more “bugs” he has found in other aspects of his life.  Back in my day, my idea of “hacking” was sneaking into the kitchen to steal cookies, but whatever, I guess this is just as impressive.

Handling the Haters

With the rise of social media, replying to feedback has become an art for public relations practitioners and brand managers. Because social media is a way of personifying a brand, responses can directly reflect the “personality” of a business and should be handled with care (or lots of jokes). These light-hearted responses are great examples of how to respond to negative tweets. A little self-deprecating humor never hurt anyone, right?
