Whisk Crêpes Café to Open at Sylvan | Thirty

French creperie to open at new mixed-used development in West Dallas/Oak Cliff

Julien Eelsen(2)-CSA blogDALLAS, October 14, 2014 – West Dallas and Oak Cliff residents will soon be able to experience authentic French crepes, thanks to Frenchman Julien Eelsen’s newest venture: Whisk Crêpes Café, an upscale fast-casual restaurant that’s expected to open in early 2015.

The 20-seat, 645-square foot creperie, located next door to Teiichi Sakurai’s ramen shop, will serve sweet and savory crepes, as well as sides, wine, beer and cider.

“Since moving to the United States from Paris six years ago, I’ve wanted to bring the traditional French crepe experience to my new hometown. After touring Sylvan | Thirty, I knew that my concept would be a great addition to the development,” said Eelsen, who was raised in Paris and has a family history of hotels and restaurants in the Normandy region.

“My hope is that Whisk’s crepes, beverages and authentic atmosphere will transport people’s imaginations to a leisurely afternoon at a Parisian sidewalk cafe,” added Eelsen.

The restaurant will be designed by Arlene Pemrose, whose experience includes Jack Nicklaus Golf Resort in Ireland, Johnny’s Kitchen in Dublin, Ireland, the suites and guestrooms at Omni Hotel in Chicago, The Black Swan Bar and Lounge at Omni Hotel in Houston and the Nashville residence of the late Johnny Cash.
