Radisson Dallas Park Cities to “reflag” to Holiday Inn after $8 million renovation

Long-time SMU/Central Expressway-area hotel undergoes top-to-bottom makeover, joins the world’s largest hotel group

Dallas, August 31, 2012 – The Radisson Hotel Dallas Park Cities, a long-time staple of SMU families, Dallas visitors and business travelers, is getting a new name and a modern, new look, thanks to a $8 million renovation that will upgrade the hotel’s 295 rooms, meeting areas and common spaces, as well as raise a new Holiday Inn “flag” over the property. The hotel, which is owned by Trigate Capital and operated by Prism Hotels & Resorts (both Dallas-based), will be known as the Holiday Inn Dallas Park Cities.

The 10-month renovation will be complete in early 2013. All rooms, the front desk area and the hotel’s massive new lobby with bar and cafe will be completely renovated with a modern new look by September 27, when the Holiday Inn name will officially go into effect. Renovations will continue on the property’s 12,000-square foot meeting and event spaces through November, and a new metal-clad “fin” with LED lighting is expected to be installed on the building’s exterior in January.

“When we’re done, this will be one of the nicest Holiday Inn properties in the United States,” said John Mearns, partner with Trigate Capital. “With our fresh new look and prime location, we want to be the hotel-of-choice for families visiting SMU, visitors of George W. Bush Presidential Library, business travelers to the central Dallas area and anyone else coming to Dallas.”

In 2010, Holiday Inn revamped its brand with a $1 billion relaunch initiative, the largest brand relaunch in the history of the hospitality industry, which aimed to improve quality and drive consistency at the brand’s 4,400 hotels worldwide.

“We looked at a number of brands, but selected Holiday Inn because of its industry-leading Priority Club guest loyalty program, its comprehensive brand relaunch and its national brand recognition,” added Mearns.

Holiday Inn’s Priority Club guest loyalty program is the industry’s first and largest program, boasting 48 million members.

Situated at Central Expressway and SMU Boulevard, The Holiday Inn Dallas Park Cities is the closest hotel to the Bush Presidential Library, as well as the closest to the SMU campus from the east. It is a short walk to Mockingbird Station and is one of only six hotels on Central Expressway south of Northwest Highway.
