Cirque du Soleil brings “OVO”; to North Texas, tickets now on sale for Cirque Club Members

Critically acclaimed, insect-inspired Cirque production to premiere January 28, 2011, under the blue-and-yellow Grand Chapiteau at Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco; Advance tickets on sale now exclusively to Cirque Club members

 

Dallas, September 15, 2010 – Cirque du Soleil returns to North Texas with the premiere of the critically acclaimed OVO. Proudly presented by iShares, OVO opens on January 28, 2011, for a limited engagement under Cirque’s trademark blue-and-yellow Grand Chapiteau (Big Top) at Dr Pepper Arena (south parking lot) in Frisco.

About the show

The name OVO means “egg” in Portuguese. Written and directed by Deborah Colker, the first female director at Cirque du Soleil, OVO is a headlong rush into a colorful ecosystem teeming with life, where insects work, eat, crawl, flutter, play, fight and look for love in a non-stop riot of energy and movement.

The cast of OVO comprises 54 performing artists from 16 countries.

The creative team behind the world of OVO consists of: artistic guides Guy Laliberté and Gilles Ste-Croix; writer, director and choreographer Deborah Colker; director of creation Chantal Tremblay; set and props designer Gringo Cardia; costume designer Liz Vandal; composer and musical director Berna Ceppas; lighting designer Éric Champoux; sound designer Jonathan Deans; acrobatic equipment and rigging designer Fred Gérard;  acrobatic performance designer Philippe Aubertin; and makeup designer Julie Bégin.

Regular performance schedule is Tuesdays thru Fridays at 8 p.m.; Saturdays at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.; Sundays at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.; dark on Mondays.
