FORT WORTH, Texas, August 3, 2010 – TBG Partners, one of the largest landscape architecture and planning firms in the Southwest, has opened a new office in Fort Worth, Texas. Located in the heart of downtown Fort Worth at 815 Houston Street, Suite 400A, it is TBG’s fifth location, with others in Austin, Dallas, San Antonio and Houston.

Dennis Jerke, ASLA, has been appointed managing principal of TBG Partners’ new Fort Worth office. In this position, Jerke will apply his 33 years of architecture, engineering and planning experience to manage and lead the firm’s Fort Worth office. Previous TBG Tarrant County-area projects include Museum Place, Alliance Town Center, Trinity Terrace, Cook Children’s Medical Center and Heritage, an 1,100-acre, master-planned community in north Fort Worth. Jerke comes to TBG following 27 years of working for Fort Worth-based Jacobs Carter Burgess, where he led the firm’s national land planning and landscape architecture initiatives for large-scale development and public projects. During his time there, he expanded the firm’s urban design and planning practice from one to seven U.S. locations, encompassing a 70-person team. Jerke is also the author of the highly regarded and award-winning book entitled, “Urban Design and the Bottom Line, Optimizing the Return on Perception,” which was published by the Urban Land Institute in December of 2008 and offers a holistic approach to urban planning and design.

“Fort Worth has an acute cultural awareness that transcends its inviting, small-town ambience, but in order to truly leverage that cultural vitality, we needed a physical presence in Fort Worth—and one that was led by not only an industry veteran but a longtime and active resident. This opening is as much a response to Dennis’ expertise as it is to the uniqueness of Fort Worth,” said Earl Broussard, founding principal of TBG Partners. “We want to capitalize on Dennis’ outstanding record in the Fort Worth area, as well as the valuable relationships he has created there. People fail to recognize just how large Texas is, and every additional market offers great opportunity. Our goal is to offer Fort Worth dynamic new opportunities for its landscape design and planning needs, while taking advantage of Dennis’ expertise and experience to grow our firm’s portfolio. TBG embraces this exciting adaptation, which will continue the growth and success we have enjoyed in other markets throughout Texas.”

Dennis’ extensive community involvement provides a strong understanding of the political and public process. He served seven years as chairman of the Arlington, Texas, Zoning Board of Adjustments, two years as chairman of the Arlington Planning and Zoning Commission, six years on the Arlington Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and five years as vice president of the River Legacy Foundation. He also serves on professional advisory boards for the College of Architecture and the Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning at Texas A&M University, and is a sustaining and active member of numerous professional organizations, including the Urban Land Institute, American Society of Landscape Architects, the National Recreation and Park Association, and more.

In addition to holding a master’s degree in landscape architecture from Texas A&M University and a bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation from Montana State University, Jerke served honorably in the United States Navy and is a veteran of the Vietnam War.
