Daltile San Michele collection sweeps Top Tile Awards Competitions; Wins Floor Covering Weekly’s “2010 Dealers’ Choice Award” and National Floor Trends “Styling Excellence Award”

DALLAS, April 22, 2010 – Daltile, the largest U.S. manufacturer and distributor of ceramic tile and natural stone, has been honored with two of the floor covering industry’s top awards for new products for its San Michele collection. Floor Covering Weekly awarded the collection its prestigious 2010 Dealers’ Choice Award and National Floor Trends named it the winner of its Styling Excellence Award, both in the ceramic tile category.

“These awards are very important to us because, in both cases, they were voted on by tile dealers and subscribers. To take home top honors in the ceramic category for many years in a row shows that our unwavering focus on design, quality and relationships have paid off,” said Lori Kirk-Rolley, senior marketing director at Daltile. “We work very hard to build strong relationships with our dealers.”

Since Floor Covering Weekly’s Dealers’ Choice competition launched in 1997, Daltile has won ten times, including all but one year since 2000. It was Daltile’s first year to enter National Floor Trends’ Styling Excellence Award competition.

San Michele is a glazed porcelain floor tile that contains more than 50% pre-consumer recycled materials content and is infused with Microban® antimicrobial protection, which provides a layer of protection from stain- and odor-causing bacteria that won’t wash off or wear away. The new collection emulates natural antiqued travertine stone and is available in three warm colors (Crema, Dorato and Moka). San Michele realistically replicates vein-cut and cross-cut travertine through Daltile’s Reveal ImagingTM, a new technology that creates dimensional, sophisticated graphics with rich coloration, texture variation, clefting and veining. Reveal Imaging allows tile graphics to be much more realistic than traditional methods of printing with no two tiles alike. As a result, the tiles look more like the stones that they are emulating.
