Construction underway for $45 million Brazos County Jail expansion in Bryan, Texas

Turner Construction serving as general contractor; expansion will add 684 new beds to the facility

Turner LogoHOUSTON, June 23, 2009 – Construction is underway for the $45 million expansion to the Brazos County Jail in Bryan, Texas. Turner Construction’s Houston office is serving as the general contractor, with Atlanta-based Rosser serving as the architect, MEP engineer and structural engineer; and College Station-based Jones & Carter as the civil engineer.

Turner is providing construction management services for the addition of one special housing unit, two dormitory housing units and a new administrative and booking facility. These units will add an additional 684 beds to the existing jail. The project will also update the existing security system to a state-of-the-art central control and monitoring system and is designed to incorporate a direct supervision control system. Completion is slated for July 2010. “We are proud to have been selected to manage the construction of this important new facility to serve the communities and residents of the Brazos County,” said Joe Glowacki, vice president and general manager of Turner’s Houston office.
