Turner Construction serving as general contractor; expansion will add 684 new beds to the facility

HOUSTON, June 23, 2009 – Construction is underway for the $45 million expansion to the Brazos County Jail in Bryan, Texas. Turner Construction’s Houston office is serving as the general contractor, with Atlanta-based Rosser serving as the architect, MEP engineer and structural engineer; and College Station-based Jones & Carter as the civil engineer.

Turner is providing construction management services for the addition of one special housing unit, two dormitory housing units and a new administrative and booking facility. These units will add an additional 684 beds to the existing jail. The project will also update the existing security system to a state-of-the-art central control and monitoring system and is designed to incorporate a direct supervision control system.
